EChO is committed to managing personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (“APPs”) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (“Privacy Act”). This document sets out our policies for collecting, managing, using and disclosing your personal information and is referred to as our Privacy Policy.
In this Privacy Policy, “we” and “us” refers to the Early Childhood Organisation of South Australia Inc. (EChO) and “you” refers to any individual about whom we collect personal information.
About EChO
EChO (Early Childhood Organisation Inc) is a not-for-profit association in South Australia. We comprise of a group of South Australian educators whose focus is on children from birth to eight years of age.

What information does EChO collect about you?
EChO may collect and hold personal information from you depending on how you interact with us. If you use our website, that may include information that you input into an online form and information as to how you have used that website.
Membership and subscribing to updates and MailChimp
When you register for membership through EdSA Gateway, a record is made which includes your personal information. The type of personal information that we collect will vary depending on the circumstances of collection and what you request from us, but will typically include your name, e-mail, postal address and phone number.
We may also collect information about:
Your demographic (e.g. your age, gender, vocation, educational and employment history);
Your interests;
Your location; and
The type of technology you use to access our services.
The EChO Committee
We collect personal information when recruiting personnel to join the EChO Committee, such as your name, contact details, qualifications and work history. Generally, we will collect this information directly from you.
Other individuals and event attendees
EChO may collect personal information about individuals when you register for a professional learning event via Humanitix or Eventbrite. EChO may also collect personal information about individual service providers and contractors to EChO; and other individuals who interact with ECHO on a commercial basis. The kinds of personal information we collect will depend on the capacity in which you are dealing with ECHO. Generally, it would include your name, site, e-mail, postal address and phone number.
If you are participating in a face to face or online event we are delivering, we may take images or audio-visual recordings which identify you. Prior to this occurring, participants will be reminded at the beginning of the event of this occurrence and remind participants to notify EChO Committee member if you do not wish to be identified. Where online professional learning sessions may be recorded, participants will be asked to turn their cameras off.
We may also collect information about your attendance, participation and feedback regarding events arranged by EChO. In limited circumstances, EChO may collect information which is considered sensitive information. For example, if you are injured at an event promoted or delivered by EChO, we may collect health information about you in an emergency or otherwise with your consent.
You can always decline to give EChO any personal information we request, but that may mean we cannot provide you with some or all of the services you have requested. If you have any concerns about personal information we have requested, please let us know.

How and why does EChO collect and use your personal information?

How does EChO hold information?
EChO stores information in paper-based and electronic files in secure databases. Personal information may be collected in paper-based documents and converted to electronic form for use or storage (with the original paper-based documents either archived or securely destroyed). We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, and loss and from unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure.
EChO maintains physical security over paper and electronic data stores, such as through locks and security systems. We also maintain computer and network security, eg, we use firewalls (security measures for the Internet) and other security systems such as user identifiers and passwords to control access to our computer systems.

We may use images or audio-visual recordings with your permission that identify you for promotional purposes where you would reasonably expect this to occur.
Disclosure to Contractors and other Service Providers
EChO may disclose personal information to third parties we engage in order to provide our services, including contractors and service providers used for data processing, data analysis, customer satisfaction surveys, information technology services and support, website maintenance or development, printing, archiving, mail-outs, and market research.
